Thassos island
The emerald island of Thassos is located in the North Aegean Sea off the coast of Eastern Macedonia and specifically opposite the mouth of the river Nestos and the city of Kavala. It is one of the 4 provinces of Kavala prefecture in eastern Macedonia. The length of the beaches of Thassos reaches 115 km while only 8 nautical miles separate it from the opposite coast Macedonians. A turbulent history that goes back centuries, abundant sources of wealth, impressive sights from all historical periods and in particular since antiquity, the hospitable local culture, the stunning natural surroundings and the excellent tourist infrastructure give the island a distinctive character and make attracts many visitors from around the world.
Small valleys and many mountainous hills characterize the terrain of the island is mountainous and pine. Highest peak is Ypsario term or fish as the locals call it. The unique natural environment and the healthy temperate climate, make it a unique tourist destination. Main resources of the island are tourism, timber, marble mining, oil, olives, honey and other agricultural products.
Crystal clear sea embraces and reflects the island's beauty. The island is famous for its turquoise waters and unique beaches, with sand or pebbles, offering unforgettable summer holiday visitors.
The island in its entirety is beautiful and clean beaches like Golden Beach in Skala Panagia, Golden Beach in Skala Potamias, Kinira, Paradise, Thimonia, Salt Lake, which is considered the pool of the island, Fine Sand, Astris, Coast drink Pefkari, Côte Tripiti Limenaria until the Atspas Skala Maries, Kallirachis Coast, the Coast Savior, Côte thickets in Skala Prinos, Skala Rachoni, thick, Papa Harbour Glyfada, and the city Cote Saint Basil and the beach (settlement) on the east side of town.
Roads
The island's road network is very valuable. The ring road of the island is 100 km long and it is asphalt road, linking the villages. From Kavala to Thassos performed ferry service every day throughout the year (1 hour and 45 minutes). Finally, in Port Keramoti are many daily routes.

Events:
Performances of ancient tragedy in the ancient theater of the island. Feast of the Assumption folk dances and roast goat. Every third day of Easter folklore dances with elders.

Fresh fish, lobster, shrimp, black wine, fresh walnuts, honey, dried octopus, dumplings, lamb and goat.
